	About the Kagomachidori Arcade 　　Kagomachidori runs from between Tsuruya Department Store and Parco on Denshadori all the way to the intersection with Ginzadori Street. Our Promotion Group was founded in 1972 but was called the Kumamoto City Downtown Promotion Group. When we started repairs on the arcade, we ran a public naming contest, and our name changed to its current form in 1991. The name "Kagomachi" means "Palanquin Town" after the palanquins that carried the lords of the domain and their families here hundreds of years ago.
